Value Sensitive Design is a theoretically grounded approach to the design of technology that accounts for human values in a principled and comprehensive manner throughout the design process. Value refers simply to the economic worth of an object. Wiener argued that technology could help make us better human beings and create a more just society. They propose that people trust when they are vulnerable to harm from others, and yet believe that those others would not harm them even though they could. The conceptualizing investigation entails a philosophically informed analysis of the central value constructs. The three mechanisms are peripheral awareness of cookies, just-in-time information about individual cookies and cookies in general and just-in-time management of cookies Kahn et al. is comparing the short-term benefits of working in an office and identical view. The Value Sensitive Design methodology helps to bring to the forefront values that matter not only to the direct stakeholders of a technology but also to the indirect stakeholders. Most of the technical choices in the design of the UrbanSim Software is in response to the need to generate indicators and other evaluation measures that respond to different strongly held stakeholder values. There is a growing interest and challenge to address values in design.
